Week 6 : Last meeting for our movie discussion

                                      "THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES"

On last day, as usual we gathered at cafe in faculty economy. During discussion :

Do you like this movie or not? Why?
We like this movie very much. This movie characters make us want to join them in their adventure to defeat the ogres and goblins live around their house. The most exciting part is when Jared Grace stabs his own father, turn out it not his father but the bad ogre named Mulgarath who wants Spiderwick's field guide to faeries. Overall, it is a good movie as we enjoy watching it. We give 4 out of 5 stars.

From this movie, we can get many moral values such as :
1. Be understanding and trust each other.
   - Jared hates the fact that they have to move to an old house and make things harder for his single mother
But, at the same time his family members also do not believe him when he tell them about the ogre and           ogre. They only can defeat the monster if they have enough trust to each other

2. Be determined
   - Simon hurts his leg when he get caught by the ogre. He has to stay home while his brother and sister go        to Aunt Lucinda for help. He help them by another way. He prepare weapons for them in case they have      to fight with the ogre. It shows how he is determined to save his family although he hurts his leg.

Title for movie review :
    - Family always there for you -

Before we end our discussion, we take some pictures for memory as this is our last meeting. It is wonderful to know each other as we come from different faculties and college.

Week 5 : The Characters in The Spiderwick Chronicles.

So, in this movie there are two types of character. the human, and the supernatural. We'll start off with the human characters first.

Jared Grace.
His character is played by Freddie Highmore. He has a twin Simon Grace. It's not easy to confuse them since they both have opposite personalities. Jared is being portrayed as a rebellious kid, from the start of the movie till the very climax. He took the book out of the Protective Circle, despite being told not to do so. He has anger issues and often lashes out to his mother. His curiosities regarding the Arthurs Field Guide is remarkably at a high level. He goes all out to discover about the goblins and even took the book out of the Protective Circle. The story line then progresses and portrays Jared as a practical and well strategic boy when he defends his family and himself against the goblins.

Simon Grace.
His character is also played by Freddie Highmore. He is the identical twin of Jared (Obviously). His character is pacifistic animal lover. He's a complete opposite than his twin. He's an empty shell, basically. He doesn't really know how to watch out for Jared. Simon complies to his mothers' needs. He was first sceptical about the whole goblins, ogre situation. Soon he believed it after an unfateful acquaintance with the goblins.

Mallory Grace.
She is their elder sister, whose character is played by Sarah Bolgar. Mallory is an avid fencer. She seems to get easily annoyed by Jared because she always has a nasty comment about him. She's also very judgemental towards Jared and blames everything on him. Especially when her hair was tangled to the bed frame. I felt annoyed knowing that she blamed Jared for everything.

Arthur Spiderwick.
Arthur Spiderwick is played by David Strathairn. He is the author of Arthur Spiderwicks' Field Guide. He investigated about the supernatural world. He got so engrossed with it to the point where he abandoned his young daughter. He felt guilty when Jared told him about his daughter, Lucinda who got admitted to an asylum. Arthur was kidnapped by elves because he refused to burn the book. He was held captive and wasn't allowed to return to the normal world.

Lucinda Spiderwick.
Lucinda Spiderwick is the daughter of Arthur Spiderwick. She was abandonded by her father . She can no longer eat regular food, because she tasted the food of the faeries,  only being kept alive by the fruits given to her by the sprites she played with as a child.
